The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announced that the section of Lusail Street heading north from the south canal crossing to the Legtaifiya Lagoon Roundabout will be closed as of Monday 1st of April as part of the development works on the Lusail Highway (Map 1).

Lusail Street users traveling north from the South Canal Crossing towards The Pearl, Lagoona Mall and surrounding areas will be able to take a newly built road by heading east and via Oyster Street.

Diverting traffic away from the main works on Lusail Street to the new Oyster Street will ensure safety and smooth traffic flow.

The newly built road heading east towards Oyster Street will be opened in both directions as of Monday, April 15, granting motorists traveling south as well and exiting the Pearl and Lagoona area easy access to the Lusail Street. From 15 April onwards the entire section of Lusail road between the South Canal Crossing and the Legtaifiya Lagoon Roundabout will be closed (as shown in map 2).

Upon completion, the Lusail Expressway will stretch over 5.3 km with four lanes in each direction, in addition to two service lanes in the multi-level interchange  areas. The Lusail Expressway is part of Ashghal’s Expressway Programme which is a nationwide road infrastructure programme that will improve the way people and places are connected across Qatar.
