Seven-star hotel at Pearl-Qatar within two years

The Pearl-Qatar – an iconic man-made luxury island in Doha – will be home to a seven-star hotel and resort within the next couple of years.

Kempinski – the more than a century-old hotel brand that owns a property in the city – announced last weekend it would open the project by 2015 in a move, giving the Pearl-Qatar more vibrancy.

“We are set for a 2015 opening at the Pearl-Qatar…this shows our commitment to the country and also reflects the massive opportunities the hospitality industry offers here,” said Avsar Koc, the sales director for the region at Kempinski.

He was addressing a road show for the brand as part of the campaign by the group in the Middle East region.
The Kempinski plans are in line with that of several other leading hotel groups from across the globe to open new properties in Qatar as the country braces for an expected hospitality industry boom in the run up to hosting the World Cup in 2022.

According to conservative estimates, as many as 6,000 new rooms are expected to be added in the country’s hotel industry over the next half a decade.

Koc said the World Cup was going to be a milestone and a goalpost all the businesses from across the world would definitely try to hit with as much enthusiasm as they could.

“This is the game changer,” he said in a brief speech at the conclusion of the road show in which affiliated properties from other countries were also present.

The Pearl-Qatar is the elitist real estate development project to cater to the luxury needs of a global clientele from various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds associated with businesses in this energy-rich nation.

Established in 1897, Kempinski is present almost across the globe as one of the Europe’s largest hotel group.

In Doha, the existing Kempinski property is known for the fact that it occupies the tallest tower in the country having more than 60 floors.
