Katara Hospitality unveils new project in Lusail Marina District

Qatar-based hospitality giant announces plans for iconic luxury hotel to be constructed in the new urban district of Lusail.

Katara Hospitality, the international Qatar-based deluxe hospitality company, has unveiled their plans to construct what will undoubtedly become an iconic hospitality symbol of the 21st century - the Lusail Marina Iconic Development.

Announcing their plans for the Qatar based property at this year's Arabian Travel Market (ATM), Hamad Abdulla Al Mulla, CEO, Katara Hospitality said: "This stunning structure matches our aspiration for Katara Hospitality to become one of the world's most recognised hospitality brand identities.

"With an architectural design inspired by the insignia of Qatar, the Lusail Marina Iconic Development's spectacular architecture is set to become a leading hospitality landmark."

The iconic property, designed for five-star luxurious status, is set to hold approximately 800 units comprising hotel rooms, residence apartments, offices, recreational facilities, specialist boutiques and top-class restaurants.

The breathtaking 'crossed sword' shape of the towers, which gracefully intertwine, replicates the Qatar seal and, integrated with landscaped gardens, rises from a podium giving the impression that the entire architectural complex is floating on the sea.

Al Mulla added: "The modern aesthetic of the Lusail Marina Iconic Development complements the more traditional properties we have in our eclectic portfolio of hotels, which are great examples of classic architecture."

Aiming to be operational by 2016, the Lusail Marina Iconic Development will be constructed in the Marina district of Lusail - the latest planned urban centre in the Gulf State. Lusail is set to be located on the Gulf coast 15km north of Doha city centre and will eventually provide accommodation for up to 250,000 people.

"Naturally, the Lusail Marina Towers will be ideally located for travelling football fans, officials and professionals as the Qatar Football World Cup arrives in a decade's time.

"And long after the dust of the world cup has settled, the property will be a perfect getaway for Middle East leisure travelers looking for luxury accommodation as Qatar's landscape offers more for tourists every year," remarked Al Mulla.

Located in the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica, Casa Mecano is a residence designed by Robles Arquitectos that’s situated on a hilltop for natural ventilation and spectacular views. Seeing that it’s built in a tropical environment with lots of sunlight and rain, it was important to incorporate ways to control the direct rays with the use of a controllable sail. They’ve also put to use a tank to collect rainwater that is then used for irrigation.

Their goal was to integrate environmentally friendly practices during construction but also into the design of the home. They kept the footprint to a minimum with a scaled back design and the use of a modular steel structural system, which reduced the need for materials and the debris that they left behind.

The large paneled windows also allow for the house to be filled with natural light.

When thinking of picture perfect homes, Taher thinks of romance and elegance, luxury and opulence, all set in a warm dappled sun drenched haze, over the sophisticated perfection of traditional good style.

This idyllic pool scene would certainly not look out of place in the latest music video, full of the indulgent excesses in life that make us want to play the lottery! Ravishing Romanian Interior

This polished apartment interior in Bucharest, Romania, designed by Square One, is kitted out with rich toned bespoke furniture and pure white walls and floors, resulting in strong lines of cutting contrast.

On the perimeter of the open plan living room, a bulkhead is cleverly disguised by wood cladding that tones in with the furniture, and is flanked by components of an entertainment unit to complete the illusion of uninterrupted space. An L shaped sofa hugs the room and subtly sections off a reading and games area with a low level barrier to allow the nook to remain part of the free flowing environment.

The kitchen area is backed by mirrored panels to reflect the large windows on opposite side, bouncing light around the deeper part of the layout. An asymmetrical white extractor echoes the shape of the white Corian countertop that protrudes long past the kitchen cabinetry to provide a dining area, and a tiny touch of stylish whimsy, in the form of a glazed mini courtyard, sits right in the central island, forming an unusual splashback to the hob.

A long basin, storage unit, and illuminated vanity mirror run parallel along one wall of the main bathroom, towards a frosted shower screen that is printed with intriguing scientific illustrations, which compliment the cool clinical feel of the decor.

A vast walk-in closet is flanked with a dressing area, which frees up the bedroom space to be a simple scheme of relaxation.

PC House is a summerhouse for a family in a 60s Mediterranean town’s neighborhood, on a site few meters far away from the beach.

The intervention renews the house updating the aesthetics concept, reinforcing the interior-exterior relationship, improving its comfort quality.

It is a new image for a summerhouse for the family.

The renewal was done maintaining the existing structure and the position of the windows and eliminating all the previous accessories such as arcs and reliefs.

Several operations were to increase the height of the walls to create a new proportion and a new terrace overlooking the sea and to extend the height of the windows to increase lightening and ventilation and air circulation inside the house.

The new terrace is connected with the renewed garden by a steel tube staircase.

Additionally, we decided to do two skylights strategically positioned on the entrance and on top of the kitchen to provide natural light to the only spaces without direct communication with the exterior

The living room is opened to the garden through a big sliding window and by extending its pavement from inside to outside, extending its proportions and to be in direct contact with nature of a garden with an existing prominent Mediterranean pine tree, a comfortable shaded space to enjoy with the family.
